Join us to celebrate the INCLUDE programme! Find out what we’ve learnt about inclusion in music groups, hear real-life examples from Making Music members, and be the first to know about our brand-new set of resources.
Since 2023 we have worked closely with four Making Music member groups to explore what they can do to include more people, from more diverse demographics, in their activities. We’ve learnt alongside these groups about what works and what doesn’t and have seen the how leisure-time music groups can make a real difference in their communities.
In this event you’ll hear from the four groups about some of the actions they took, the impact they made, and their reflections on the programme. We’ll also be launching our brand-new resource: a set of toolkits that will help you build a plan for making your group more inclusive.
The INCLUDE groups:
Scunthorpe and North Lincolnshire Concert Society
Great Bowden Recital Trust
Luton Choral Society
OutSingCancer Choir
On our journey we have been supported by three external Critical Friends, Roger Wilson (Black Lives in Music), Rachel Wolffsohn (The OHMI Trust), and Dr. Michael Bonshor (University of Sheffield), who will be with us on the day to talk about their reflections.
We will also share what the Making Music team learnt from delivering the programme, our advice to other membership organisations, and what we’re planning to do next to support our members’ inclusive practices.
